The NOC operations engineer will be responsible to monitor, control and troubleshoot the deployed SBInet system and the NOC/SOC system itself. This system is made up of numerous components that include various operating systems, software applications, computing devices, network devices, communications equipment and sensors. The network operations center will be staffed to provide 24x7 operations to the CBP station HQs and the CBP agents conducting their operational mission. The operations engineer must be capable of performing without direct management oversight to respond to technical issues, discrepancies, or outages expertly and in a timely manner. He or she will control, monitor, and troubleshoot automated systems equipment working either day, swing or midnight shifts. The network systems operations engineer will have primary responsibility to ensure that all systems remain functional and online. This entails monitoring automated systems that track the health and status of these various systems. He or she will have responsibility to conduct maintenance activities in a timely manner to maximize operational availability of all systems. These maintenance activities include Linux and Windows (and other SW) patch management and distribution, execution of component diagnostics, replacement of failed components within the NOC/SOC facility, and to conduct both online and offline backups of software components and data. This engineer shall also provide maintenance of a call center at the NOC/SOC to receive security incident reports.
